Get to Know Us

Hey! We are Hunter and Hannah, full time vanlifers in our 1974 VW bus, Luna. We have been together for 10 years and have been able to experience so much together, especially since we hit the road a year and a half ago. With so much out there to see, we decided to prioritize adventure and further our appreciation of this beautiful country we live in by seeing as much of it as we possibly can.

Though we previously had the opportunity to travel quite a bit around Europe together, we realized neither of us had spent much time exploring the US outside of Southern California. With remote work continuing to be an option and rent prices far too high, we came to the conclusion there may not be a better time in our lives to minimize belongings and maximize experiences. The day we officially moved out of our apartment in January 2022, it felt a bit scary making so many changes. Over time, we have adjusted to these changes and can honestly say it was one of the best choices we could have made. Of course, we miss the luxuries that came with a larger space, but this VW bus has felt just like home to us and we couldn’t imagine traveling the country in any other vehicle.

Our time on the road has been quite the adventure, and we couldn’t be happier so far with the memories it has already created. We are eager for all that is still ahead of us. With our camera at the ready, we can’t wait to continue capturing special places and moments throughout this journey to try and convey just how beautiful the United States really is.

About Luna

When we bought Luna back in summer of 2020, we knew we were purchasing a van that would need constant maintenance and a dedication to cruise in the slow lane. However, we never could have imagined this little VW bus would be what we called “home” as we embarked on a vanlife journey to value experiences and the great outdoors over all else.

Luna is a 1974 Volkswagen bus with a Westfalia camper conversion. The bus was completely white before we got our hands on it, but we always felt like it was missing something. That something was color! We designed 70s inspired retro striping and custom printed it on vinyl to complete the look. As you can probably tell, we are a little obsessed with how it turned out. 

We were fortunate enough to be able to find a bus complete with its full original camper interior; giving us a time capsule-like feeling as we ride around with such 70’s style, complete with plaid cushions and green carpet. While there is nothing we love more than checking out how others have fully built out their vans, we couldn’t be happier with the classic look of the interior our home on wheels came with. Original never goes out of style. 

There are certainly more reliable vans out there, but that’s part of the journey for us. Keeping our spare parts bag stocked and constantly educating ourselves on classic car care has brought an element to this long-term road trip we wouldn’t trade for anything. We adore how she (Luna is a girl) keeps us on our toes in addition to introducing us to a community of VW fanatics who are always willing to lend a helping hand or just share stories and memories from the nostalgia these little buses bring out.
